When Regis Hig School 9th grader LAUREN STOECKLE was planning her high school swimming career, she wasn't sure what to expect. Now, she's a record-setting state champion in the breastroke.

"I looked up and saw the number "1" next to my name and just threw my arms up in the air. Words can't even describe my happiness."

And, when her best friend, CHERRY CREEK freshman, BONNIE BRANDON, won the backstroke in state record time, she was just as thrilled.

"Because we're on rival teams, we couldn't do more than a quick congratulatory hug, but, inside, our hearts were screaming with excitement for each other. Bonnie and I have made a plan, that we are both going to swim in the Olympics in 2012."

So, how did the future Olympians celebrate after they left the state meet? "We walked to the store and bought sweet potatoes. Everything's back to normal. Two peas in a pod."
