The Broncos are rumbling downhill right now like Earl Campbell back in the day (my favorite power runner of all-time).
However, like one Campbell highlight in particular... check it here on YouTube if you want (it's 2:30 into the highlight clip)...
Earl gets absolutely drilled by Jack Tatum before stumbling into the endzone. I feel like the Broncos may take one on the chin by the Colts before reaching THEIR ultimate destination---the NFL postseason.
This game won't be like the all too forgettable (those in the heartland would argue 'memorable') Wildcard games following the '03 & '04 seasons when the Colts dismantled the Broncos, but the result--a Colts W---may be the same.
I see these Broncos going into Indianapolis, and competing for 60 minutes against the best team in the NFL, proving they can hang with the best the league has to offer, then winning out the rest of the December slate to make the playoffs at 11-5 (did I just blow my Eagles prediction?).
I also see this as not a singular game, but the beginning of what could be a power rivalry for the first half of the next decade. Much like how the Patriots fended off the Colts for the first half of the 2000's before their dynasty ebbed, the Colts may have the Broncos number for this year, the next, and maybe two years down the road, but not forever.
Ultimately, the Colts represent the hurdle the Broncos will need to (and eventually WILL) overcome to get back to the Super Bowl. As Red Sox owner John Henry stated about the Yankees: "All empires must crumble".
Hence, Broncomaniacs, while the outcome of Sunday's game may not be in your favor, take this to heart---it's just the start of a new era at the top of the AFC power structure.
