New Blackberry App keeps your eyes on the road
DENVER - There is a new application for Blackberry smart phones that offers a simple solution to the ever-growing epidemic of texting and driving.

It's called Auto TextBak and it enables users to easily set an away message that will automatically reply to incoming text messages. It's like an out-of-office email response, for your smart phone.

In Colorado, texting and driving is not only dangerous, but also illegal.

For many of us, our jobs depend on answering text messages quickly but you don't want to break the law. That's where Auto TextBak comes in.

When someone tries to text you while you're driving, Auto TexBak replies with a message saying you are on the road and can't respond. Auto TextBak is essentially an answering machine for your incoming text messages.

"If anyone sends you a text, you get an automated response. Whether it's busy I'm driving I'll get back to you or I'm taking a nap I can't get back to you right now," says Auto TextBak creator, David Goldman.

Whether you're driving, sleeping or at the movies, you preset the auto response. The app helps to ease the demand of an instant response so you can focus on driving.

The Auto Texbak application is just for Blackberry right now, it stores phone numbers and it won't send messages over and over again to the same texter. You will see an icon turn white to green that shows auto text back is turned on and active and ready to handle your business while you keep your eye on the business of driving

"Just because you make it illegal doesn't mean people aren't going to do. They need an alternative and we're providing and alternative," says Goldman.

The app is $2.99 in the Blackberrry app store. Goldman says they are currently working on an Android platform and are still waiting to get the "okay" from Apple for an iPhone app.
