ESTES PARK ,Colo.- A spokeswoman for the town of Estes Park said sandbags were placed around the post office in the downtown area Saturday, as the Big Thompson and Fall rivers got closer to overflowing their banks.
Kate Rusch said that the sandbags were being placed as a precaution to protect downtown homes and businesses.
In addition, sand and around 1,000 bags have been made available to residents and business owners who want to make their own levees.
