What a finish. What a game. Those two short sentences have two very different implications.
The finish was spectacular. Brandon Stokley's catch and go was as miraculous as any play you'll ever see in any sport on any level. It is, and forever will be stored in the archives of every "Greatest Finishes" special to be aired on TV and written about in print.
The rest of the game, I'm not so sure about.
The Broncos defense was stout, until it mattered most. The Bengals were held to less than 20 yards of total offense in the 3rd quarter, but waltzed 91 yards down the field in a little over six minutes of the game to score what should have been the winning touchdown.
The Broncos offense was ineffective. Of 11 drives (not including the game winner) in the game, the 'O' failed to mount a drive longer than 52 yards. They went three and out five times. They were in Bengals territory only three times.
Certainly, there's a lot to work on between now and the home opener against the Browns. However, that work is being done with lifted chins and spirits, instead of both bowed.
