In this economy, many families are already worried about how they will afford the holidays. This week they could get some help. The Salvation Army is registering families for Christmas assistance.
Families who sign up will receive food boxes and toys for the kids December 17th 23rd. That will mean a lot to people like Casandra Duran. The 21 year old has two small children and no job.
I dont have any money to get them anything right now, Duran says.
She is one of thousands of people who say they will register for help this week. Registration runs November 2nd November 7th at six area locations.

Registrants will need to provide: -Proof of address -Verification of income -2 Utility bills (Xcel, water) -Picture ID of person registering -Rental receipt or mortgage statement -Birth certificates of children in household For zip codes not listed or for those that do not register during these times, families can register beginning December 1 at The Salvation Army Family Service office, 2201 Stout St., Denver. Distribution of the food boxes and toys will be December 17-23. "We believe the need to be greater this year than last year," says Captain Ron McKinney, metro Denver Salvation Army City Coordinator. "We know that we are not going to be able to help everyone but we know that those we do help, it makes a significant impact on their families."
