City Park, the downtown Denver skyline, and the Front Range mountains in the background
DENVER -
You don't have to tell Tom Clark how cool it is to be at 5280.
He has been around Denver for 24 years. He's been affiliated with the Metro Chamber of Commerce almost 2 decades. He knows why people keep coming back.
So it's no surprise, that USA Today found Denver as among its favorite cities for road warriors.
The Mile-High City ranking among the best for business-traveler destinations.
"In the 1908s we were the most polluted city," says Clark, who now serves as executive vice-president of economic development.
Now, "the number 1 reason people come here is activity, and we are going to be one of the first state's to recover from the recession."
The USA Today survey cites the city's architecture and wide-open spaces. Clark says a vibrant downtown also helps. The paper's "Road Warrior Panel" also credits concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the drive up Clear Creek Canyon to the casinos in Blackhawk.
Some cities to also make the list that may or not may surprise you: Asheville, N.C., Fayetteville, Ark. and Irvine, Calif.
