DENVER - The camera and microphone were turned on when Broncos head coach Josh Daniels became fired up and unleashed some profanity on the sidelines. The foul language was heard by the national television audience watching the game.
It happened while he was delivering a heated speech to a group of players during the first quarter of Denver's game against the New York Giants Thursday night.
FOX 31 KDVR was rebroadcasting the NFL Network's production of the football game when the incident occurred. FOX 31 apologized to its viewers for the audio that made it onto the air. The announcers for the NFL Network apologized to the national audience for the incident following a commercial break.
McDaniels was yelling at a small group of players when he shouted in very animated fashion, "all we're trying to do is win the (expletive) ball game!...."
The Broncos were trying to avoid losing their 5th game in a row, after winning the first six games of the season. They did just that by beating the New York Giants 26-6.
McDaniels was asked during his post game news conference about the fact that the profanity made the air. He simply said, "It's the NFL Network, it doesn't surprise me."
In an interview with The Associated Press and the Denver Post, Eric Weinberger, executive producer of the NFL Network, apologized to viewers and to McDaniels for the "terrible mistake."
