Stephie Lyn, from Falls of Rough, Kentucky (July 11, 2009)
DENVER -
Well, this is the last chance to audition for the 2010 season of American Idol and it will happen right here in Denver this week.
One candidate, Stephie Lyn, from Falls of Rough, Kentucky flew into town Saturday with just a suitcase and some granola bars.
"I got a Golden Ticket to Hollywood last year, but the show over-booked winners and I didn't make the trip," said the 21-year old tryout contestant. "I'm going to give it all I've got this time around, just like I did last year. My mom wanted me to go for it again, but dad made me promise to call every hour on the hour."
When we met up with Ms. Lyn she had just taken the Sky Ride from Denver International to the city. We helped her find a room at the Euro-style Hostel in downtown Denver and then showed her the 16th Street Mall.
"This is like a little Las Vegas compared to where I'm from," said the woman from the Blue Grass state. "I am ready to camp out at the stadium, I even brought my blanket."
She won't have to go to those links, now that she hooked up a spot at the youthful hotel.
Hers is just one of thousands of American Idol stories as people get ready to head to D-town for the Idol tryouts next week.
