Student accused of assaulting teacher at Hinkley H.S.
Aurora police officers are investigating an alleged assault of a Hinkley High School student on a teacher that started with an argument over a cell phone.

Police say the substitute teacher asked a female student to put a cell phone away. After the teacher had to ask a second time, she took it away.

That's when the female student got mad and police say assaulted the teacher. Another student helped break things up.

No one was seriously hurt in the incident. The investigation continues and there is no word yet about whether charges will be filed.

"We are in the process of investigating allegations concerning a student and substitute teacher. Student and staff safety is a top priority at Hinkley High School and throughout Aurora Public Schools. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment in our schools and inappropriate behavior of any type will not be tolerated," an Aurora school district statement said.

Hinkley High School was in the news earlier this week because the Denver Police Department is investigating several members of the boys' soccer team for alleged sex crimes after an incident on a school bus as it rolled through Denver in September.
