Blue Mountain Arts Greeting Cards

BOULDER, Colo. - They provide the words we're unable to say for ourselves. And now, Boulder-based Blue Mountain Arts is looking for your writings to possibly publish on greeting cards.

The company sells about 30-million cards a year.

They want highly-original, heartfelt words that speak about friendship, family, special occasions and positive living.

"So people who are out buying the cards, feel like it was written for them to send to that special person in their lives. I can't tell you how it works. But it does work. It's kind of magic in a way," says Gary Morris, Blue Mountain Arts Editorial Director.

They don't want anything that rhymes, is funny or inappropriate, like this submission:

"All the rough times. All the fighting. If you would've just listened to me we could prevented all that is not forgotten. I tried to tell you from the start, if you wouldn't have lied to me you would still have all of my heart."

"We tend to go for the sentimental, the nice stuff, not 'You treated me badly. I really don't like you,'" says Editor Kate Willms.

Blue Mountain gets thousands of submissions every year. But they only select about 10% of them.

If your prose gets picked, you'll make $300.
