VIDEO: 'Chicken Man' crashes Durango City Council meeting
DURANGO, Colo. - When the Durango City Council approved an ordinance allowing residents to keep fowl in their backyards, they never expected one would show up at city hall.

Someone in a chicken costume crashed a council meeting Tuesday as Durango Mayor Leigh Meigs was discussing the recently-passed backyard hen ordinance.

The person walked around, flapped his or her 'wings' a few times, then sat down to observe the proceeding.

Council members continued their discussion, albeit with a few laughs, and then went into closed session. At that point, the chicken got up and left, but not before crouching to 'lay' an egg.

"I thought it was hilarious," Councilor Christina Thompson told the Durango Herald. "I was laughing so hard my eyes hurt, and my cheeks. There are just so many other things for us to be serious about, it's good to take a break once in a while."

The identity of the chicken still has not been determined.
