The 'Other Daily' growing and making money
DENVER - They only began seven or eight years ago, but the Denver Daily News is growing and getting better every week. Circulation is up to 22,001 copies a day, when the paper began in 2001 they printed 2100 a day. For the DDN its all about ad revenue when it comes to covering the cost of the paper that now even sports splashes of color on its pages.

"We know how to do free daily papers," said Kristine Honnon, Publisher and Co-Owner. "My partner started the Vail and Summit County dailies, sold them, then opened eight free papers in and around San Francisco, which are all doing very well. Now, he just opened two new free papers to compete against his old high-country papers in Colorado, he is a pioneer in the business."

The headline on Friday read, "We're a 2-Daily Town" and that is the case even tho the Rocky Mountain News folded last week.

"We're free, and we deliver along key transit lines such as light-rail and are now all over the metro-area after starting in downtown Denver and Cherrry Creek North," said Editor, Tad Rickman. "We just try to give people the best stories of the day and whatever else they might need to get thru the day."

Ad rates are such that even the smallest businesses can afford to advertise in the DDN. They are geared to mid and small sized companies and they are making a run at even some of the big advertisers, because their rates are lower, much lower than the Post.

Tabloid style, easy to handle, and what you need to know while you are on the go, the Denver Daily, the cities other daily.
