Hot holiday toys: Will they sell out?
WESTMINSTER, Colo. Dawn Vanersvelde had heard the stories about popular Christmas toys not lasting on the shelves until the first of December, so she visited Toys R Us a little early this shopping season.

"I wanted to avoid the rush," says the young mother of two.

Dawn is not alone.

The toy retailer across from the Westminster Mall is already seeing a steady stream of customers. Store Manager Greg Jones is expecting a strong financial showing this holiday season.

"Even in these tough economic times, people will cut back a little bit on spending for themselves, but not their children," says Jones.

Among the hot sellers: The original "Tickle Me Elmo," the "Scatterpillar Scramble" game, the "Chuck, My Talking Truck,""3 Muskateers Barbie," and "Baby Ah Choo."

Some retail experts are predicting many of these popular toys won't stay on shelves for long, but Jones says they are prepared for the long run.

Of course, none of that matters to Vanersvelde, who is done with her Christmas shopping.
