Woman accused of burning child with cigarette faces felony

A 43-year-old Boulder woman accused of burning her child with a cigarette is back in custody after authorities raised charge from misdemeanor to felony level against her.

Ghanda Roongsang was arrested in October after police said she burned her 3-year-old with a cigarette.


Boulder police were acting on a tip when they discovered the alleged abuse.

Roongsang denies the allegations and told the Boulder Daily Camera the child bumped into her cigarette.

Boulder police have not indicated why they upgraded the charges.
