Study: cell phones have 18 times more bacteria than toilet handles
Cell phones carry nearly eighteen times more living bacteria than what lives on the toilet handle in a men's restroom.

You read that right.

This is the finding of a study conducted by a UK consumer group. The study by 'Which?' magazine found bacteria lingering on the surface of handsets, and that bacteria can be easily passed to other users. It says roughly 23 percent of the cell phones in use in the United Kingdom could be considered health hazards.

One of the cell phones the group tested had bacteria levels high enough to give the user stomach troubles.

The study found higher than acceptable levels of all kinds of less than desirable bacteria on cell phones. If you want to see more detail about the bacteria, check out this article in the Daily Mail (UK).

The group recommends that you clean your cell phones regularly with alcohol wipes to get rid of bacteria.
