BRIGHTON, Colo.—
People who can't afford to see a dentist camped out overnight to receive treatment for free at a special clinic that runs Friday and Saturday, September 11-12 in Brighton.Jerry Hart drove all the way down from Glen Haven for the chance to improve his appearance. 'I needed some wisdom teeth pulled,' says the 24-year-old part-time college student.
Hart is one of hundreds that showed up at the Adams County Fairgrounds to receive free dental care. That's right free, thanks to the Colorado Dental Association's third "Colorado Mission of Mercy." The event provides donated dental treatment and education to Coloradans in desperate need of dental care. Some would-be patients showed up a day early for the chance.
More than 600 dentists, hygienists, other dental professionals and volunteers are in Brighton for the 2-day event. Doors will close as soon as the clinic reaches its capacity each day.
Jerry Hart is glad he was one of the first in line. "With a wife and child to consider , your teeth aren't always your first priority," he says. At least for one day, the take the top spot.
